Antony Winfrey is a classically trained tenor and a contemporary musician. He is currently working on a Funk EP titled, "Give Me Some". Antony received is Bachelors of Music in Vocal Performance and Music Education at Butler University. His experience spans from auditioning for multiple boy bands including a personal invite from Simon Cowell for his band, “Why Don’t We”, to flying out to LA for executive auditions for reality TV singing shows such as; NBC’s The Voice, America’s Got Talent, and American Idol. Performing in many productions from varying musicales and opera productions. Also, while performing as a solo freelance artist and producer.
His varying musical theater experiences include playing a minor role as one of the three little pigs in, “Shrek the Musical” in his first ever musical. Then Antony stepped up to a lead role, playing the Tinman in the musical, “The Wiz”. In Antony’s most recent musical theatre performance, he played the lead role of Robby Heart in, “The Wedding Singer”.
Antony completed his high school career graduating with honors from Pike High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. Under the direction of Andrew Stainbrook and the esteem, Broadway star, Matthew Houghland, in the state contending show choir ensemble, Encores. Also, under the direction of John Marshall and Ron Emmert, he was the president of the advanced Wind Ensemble for the entirety of his high school career.
In his career at Butler, he was a member of the Butler University Choir, Butler University Chorale, Butler Jazz Ensemble, Butler Jordan Jazz, Out of The Dawg House, Butler Opera Theatre, along with many solo performances.
Although Antony did not tap into his musical potential until his freshman year of high school, he jump started with voice lessons from the renowned classical/ gospel artist, Robin Henry. As well as attending master classes with Dr. Oliver Worthington and Dana Zenobi. He has privately trained with the marvelous baritones, Thaddeus James Bourne, Oliver Worthington, Mark Stingley, and Erin Benedict. Currently he studies privately with the tenor, Christopher Sierra.
Antony plays multiple instruments along with the voice. Antony has played the saxophone for nine years. He started off playing the tenor saxophone in his middle school band. Then he picked up the baritone saxophone and fell in love with the girth and weight of the sound. But wanting to become more versatile, Antony went and purchased his own alto saxophone and played the soprano saxophone in the jazz band. Antony also taught himself how to play the piano when he was 12 years old along with the drum set. He taught himself the ins and outs of the bass guitar and ukulele also.
Antony’s voice and style has received many opportunities for scholarship and including a scholarship from the Jordan College of the Arts from Butler University. Also including competing in the national competition for the NAACP in Baltimore, Maryland as a contemporary and classical vocalist.
